Tiger’s Stripes Stripped Away

Recently, Tiger Woods was suspended from participating in golf due to alleged sex scandals with many other women while cheating on his wife, Elin Nordegren. Allegedly diagnosed with a sex addiction, Woods was sent to rehabilitation and appeared on television Friday, February 19, 2010, to address the nation and apologize for his actions. He also posted an apology, similar to his live address on television, on his website for his disappointed fans.

However, some loyal Woods fans are blaming the media for inflating an issue that may be inaccurate. The terms “sex addiction” were used to identify Woods’ “problem.” Yet the very existence of such an addiction seems debatable at best. Does the man with 14 major championship wins have a mental issue? Or did he simply, albeit with drastic consequences, make wrong decisions?

Woods admitted that all he sought was “intimacy” and that he enjoyed “the feeling of powerfulness, the ability I had to control people.” Such actions are a disappointment to the millions of fans, but Woods’ actions may not be as dire as to be labeled as a severe mental disease.

After the many losses Woods has suffered – the loss of his wife’s trust, the loss of his admirer’s praise, and the loss of his many sponsorships for his great golfing – it may be difficult to imagine the emotional and mental state Woods is currently in right now. However, with focused rehabilitation and a will to become better, there is no doubt in my mind that Woods will recover.

Will the Tiger of old resurface in its former glory? Or will it remain defeated forever?

I didn’t realize he was suspended from golf I thought he was taking a personal leave. That said, I don’t have a doubt in my mind that Tiger can regain his form, as long as his wife and the rest of the media will let him.

I understand that this scandle shook the world but does it really matter what he did, cmon he’s just a golfer I would understand if the president did something like that but really I think we should just put this whole thing behind us already.

I think this situation was blown out of proportion..THERES alot of ppl that cheat..and he was caught..oh well.. this situation shouldve been put behind a long time ago. Hes a regular guy with needs, Everyone makes mistakes…and everyone should be forgiven for their mistakes.

  4. I feel that Tiger Wood’s life should not have been exploited as much as it was. That is his personal life and the fact that he felt the need to admit what he did to the public is what is wrong with the media. I as well think that Tiger Woods being suspended was wrong. His personal life and job should be kept separate.

This is really unfair just because the guy is a celebrity I feel that people hold him at a high pedestal and they forget that in reality he is still human and we all know that humans make mistakes. He should have been cut some slack and not been exploited the way he was. People need to put themselves in his shoes and I bet there are a lot of hypocritical people that are already in his shoes but have not been caught so they feel they have the right to judge him. It’s just not fair.
