Green your LIFE

Life as a teenager is not as easy as it seems. But can you imagine living your life in a world that is almost uninhabitable due to pollution and scarcity of resources? Over the past decade “Going Green” has become increasingly popular, not because every celebrity is doing it, but because our lives and our planet depend upon it. Turning our lifestyles around, and changing our ways is definitely not going to happen over night, but starting small can really change the world.

Having a little direction helps people take the intiative to change, so here a few obtainable steps that you can follow to help impact the world:

1. Recycle: Yes, I know it seems tedious, but it is a simple way to conserve the environment. Just think about it, if everyone recycled just one-tenth of their newsprint we could save an equivalent of 25 millions trees a years. Recycling is very important to help save the world.

2. Carpool: Nowadays alot of teens have cars or are driving. Driving to school is definitely a rite of passage for teens, but in this day in age, wasting money and causing pollution is not exciting. Carpooling with friends is fun, and saves alot of money. Most importantly, it decreases the amount of pollution going into the air.

3. Shop GREEN: What teen doesn’t like to shop, at least a little bit. Conscious shopping is another way that you can help sustain your community and the world. Many stores, such as H&M, have organic green lines for their eco-friendly customers. Belive it or not, alot of pesticides are used in fabrics which also pollutes the earth. Shopping for eco-friendly clothes helps save the environment and provides a nice source of fashion.

4. Conserve ENERGY: A big part of helping the enviroment, is by conserving our resources. Turning off lights, televisons, and computers plays a big part in saving energy and money. Also, unplugging appliciances is very useful.

With Earth Day recently passing, we need to remember to take care of the earth and consider how our daily actions impact the environment. By using resources in moderatation, we can save alot of time and help save the world one step at a time.
